Power of attorney template

A power of attorney lets someone act on your behalf. Below is a plain template for general or narrowly defined authority — copy it, download it for Word, or have it filled in and signed online.

Power of attorney template

Describe the authority as precisely as you can. Give a general power of attorney only to someone you fully trust.

The attorney [may / may not] appoint a substitute.

Things to check

  • Authorities, land registries and banks often require a notarised or certified signature on a power of attorney — an online form signature is not enough there.
  • A specific power of attorney is safer than a general one: the attorney can only do what is written in it.
  • You can revoke a power of attorney; tell anyone who relied on it.

How to fill in and sign it online

  1. 1

Turn the template into a form

Anything that changes — names, addresses, amounts, dates — becomes a field. The fixed wording goes in as a text block, so the other side reads all of it but cannot edit it.

  2. 2

    Add a signature field

People sign with a finger on a phone or with a mouse. When both sides sign at once, for example at a handover, add two signature fields and sign on one device.

  3. 3

    Send the link

A link, a QR code or the form embedded on your site. It works on phones and computers, with no app and no account.

  4. 4

    The PDF arrives by e-mail

After submitting, a PDF with the answers and the signature is generated and e-mailed. Every response keeps the time and IP address as an audit trail.

Where the template ends and a lawyer begins

This is a general template, not legal advice, and the rules differ from country to country. Adapt it to your situation and local law, and have a lawyer review it for larger amounts or long-term arrangements. Gatherino does not provide legal advice.
