Car purchase agreement — online template
Selling a used car privately is the classic case of a template printed off the internet, filled in with a biro on the bonnet and photographed on a phone. A form does it better: both parties fill it in on their phones on the spot, sign with a finger, and both immediately get the same PDF.
What the agreement should contain
Vehicle identification
Make, model, year, VIN, registration plate, registration document number and the odometer reading at the time of sale.
Price and payment
Amount, currency, cash or transfer, and any deposit. The currency field enforces the format.
Statement of condition
A description of known faults and damage. This is the part that ends up disputed, so be specific and attach photos through a file upload field.
Signatures and date
Both parties sign with a finger on a phone, plus place and date. All of it is rendered into the PDF.
What not to forget
The agreement is only one part of the sale. Re-registering the vehicle is a separate act that the contract does not replace — that needs documents and cooperation from both parties under the rules of the relevant authority.
Private sales often turn on whether the car was sold “as seen”. Whatever you agree, write it down specifically; a blanket phrase with no description of the actual condition will not help you in a dispute.
Attach photos of the vehicle and the odometer to the form itself. They are stored with the response, so they sit with the contract rather than somewhere in a phone gallery.
